Services / Pergolas
Akraba Remodeling is a pergola builder serving Plano, TX and Dallas, with two main styles: louvered pergolas with a roof you can open and close, and wood pergolas with a classic open beam top. A pergola shades a patio, deck, pool area or fire pit while keeping the yard open to the sky. Every pergola starts with a free estimate and a free on-site 3D design, so you can see it in your yard before we build.
A louvered pergola has a roof of adjustable aluminum blades. Tilt them open for sun and a breeze, or close them for shade and cover from light rain. It is the most flexible pergola style for long Texas summers. If you want ceiling fans or lights later, we plan space for them in your 3D design.
A wood pergola gives filtered shade through open rafters and a warm, natural look. Cedar and other wood can be stained to match your fence or deck, and you can add shade cloth, climbing plants or privacy screens. They work well over a garden seating area, a fire pit or a path, where an open look matters most.
A pergola has an open or adjustable roof, so it gives filtered shade and an airy feel. A patio cover has a solid roof that blocks sun and rain, so it works more like an outdoor room off the back door. For shade over a pool, fire pit or garden seating area, a pergola is usually the better fit. If you need full rain protection, see our patio covers. We can show both options on your home in your free 3D design.
Akraba Remodeling builds pergolas in Plano, Dallas, Frisco and Allen and across DFW. See all of our service areas. We also build decks and fences, so your pergola can be planned with the rest of the backyard.
A small kit can be a weekend project, but a pergola that lasts needs footings sized for your soil, posts set plumb, beams sized for the span and anchoring that holds up to wind. Louvered roofs also need careful alignment so the blades open and close smoothly. Our crew handles the footings, framing, permits and inspections for you.
It depends on the size, whether you choose a louvered or wood pergola, whether it is freestanding or attached, the footings your soil needs, and add-ons like shade cloth or privacy screens. We give you a free estimate after we see the space.
With the blades closed, a louvered roof sheds light rain, and many systems drain water through gutters built into the frame. In heavy, wind-driven rain some water can still get in at the sides, so if you need full protection, a solid roof is the better choice.
Many DFW cities require a permit for a pergola, depending on its size and whether it attaches to the house. We confirm what your project needs, and Akraba Remodeling pulls the permits for you.
A pergola is only as good as its footings. We set every footing to code, check that each post is plumb before the beams go up, and clean the site at the end of each day. Akraba Remodeling pulls the permits, our insured, certified crew does the work, and every pergola we build carries our 1-year warranty.
